I’m writing today in support of Gary Groelle for Rock County sheriff.

Gary has shown time and time again as a captain with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office that he has the leadership skills and experience necessary to guide the office. He was responsible for the oversight of Rock County’s re-structuring of emergency management and smoothly transitioned the varied safety organizations under one umbrella. He is respected by his peers and brings people together. His leadership style is about teamwork and consensus building, not “my way or the highway.”

Gary is also deeply committed to his community. He is active in the Milton Optimist Club, the Milton Lions Club, the Milton Youth Coalition and the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. Gary is a man “of the people” and would restore a face of compassion and community outreach to the sheriff’s office.

Gary is not a career politician. He will bring our sheriff’s office into the 21st century with an open mind and open heart. He is serious about the heroin epidemic in our community, and I believe he will work to bring all stakeholders to the table.

Someone once said: “We’d all like to vote for the best man, but he’s never a candidate.” Well, now he is, and that man is Gary Groelle for sheriff. Please join me in voting for him Aug. 12.
