Shopiere to mark independence early

SHOPIERE—The town of Turtle is celebrating the nation’s independence a week early—Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29, in Shopiere.

The three day-celebration includes:

-- Friday, June 27: 4-H softball tournament at 5 p.m., carnival from 6 to 10 p.m., live music from Jamie Campbell and the Redneck Romeos at the Shopiere Bar & Grill, 5227 E. County Road J.

-- Saturday, June 28: South Central Truck Pullers and Tobacco City Truck Pullers event at 10 a.m., kid’s tractor pull at 2 p.m., flea market 10 a.m. to evening, Shotgun Jane live at the Shopiere Bar & Grill.

-- Sunday, June 29: Parade at noon, mud track drag races and pig wrestling after the parade, fireworks at dusk.
