JANESVILLE—The Rock County Sheriff's Office has issued a reminder that the county plans routine testing of tornado sirens during the summer storm season.

Sirens in Rock County are tested at 12:05 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month between April and October. The next testing is planned on July 2.

Tests last one to two minutes. During actual tornado warnings, sirens will alert steadily for three to five minutes. The alert means people should take shelter and tune to local broadcasting stations or weather radios for further information.

If a siren is not working, people should contact the Rock County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management Bureau at 608-758-8440.
