Snappers fall at Burlington
The Burlington Bees jumped on the Beloit Snappers early Tuesday night and never wavered.
Burlington scored in four of the first five innings on the way to a 7-4 home victory in Midwest League play.
The Snappers trimmed a three-run deficit to one, at 3-2, in the fourth inning thanks to Jaycob Brugman’s leadoff double and run scored. Brugman finished 3-for-5 and later added a solo home run.
But the Bees answered with two more of their own in the bottom of the fourth and got a homer from catcher Stephen McGee for insurance in the fifth.
Beloit starter Matt Stalcup gave up fie earned runs on seven hits and three walks in four innings to take the loss.
The two teams play again tonight.
