Aces, Raptors players make RRL All-Star team

Five Milton Junction Pub Raptors and three Janesville Aces have been named to the Rock River League Southern Division All-Star squad.

The teams will combine to provide the starting battery with the Raptors’ Sean McCann pitching and the Aces’ Charlie Meyer catching.

McCann, a 12-game winner for the Southern Division champion Raptors last season, is 5-2 with a 1.43 ERA in 44 innings pitched. He has a division-leading 52 strikeouts.

Meyer is hitting .407 on the season with 11 hits in 27 at-bats. He has a double, triple and two homers with five RBI.

McCann will be joined in the Southern Division starting lineup by teammate Dave Sagaitis, who was the top vote-getter among the 12 outfield candidates. Sagaitis is hitting .444 with two doubles and six RBI. He has made three outfield assists, and has three saves.

Other Raptors on the all-star squad are catcher Tyler Allison, first baseman Jeff Jacobson and second baseman T.J. Klawitter.

Allison is hitting .350 with a double and six RBI. Jacobson is hitting .402 with 12 hits, including three doubles. He has seven RBI.

Klawitter, who is making his three straight all-star appearance, is hitting .364 as Milton’s leadoff hitter. He has six RBI.

Joining Meyer as Aces representatives are shortstop Mitch Perkins and pitcher Mike Davis. Perkins is hitting .393 with 11 hits and five RBI. Davis is 3-1 with a 1.66 ERA in 43 1/3 innings.

Raptor manager Doug Welch will manage the South Division team.

The all-star game is Saturday, June 28, at Slinger.
