Rhonda Suda picked to lead workforce group
A Janesville woman was selected from 125 applicants to lead the organization responsible the planning and oversight of the workforce system in Rock and five other Wisconsin counties.
Rhonda Suda will become chief executive officer and executive director of the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board on July 14.
Suda replaces Bob Borremans, who is retiring in August after leading the organization since 2003.
She has been the group's workforce operations manager since 2010.
“The board made an excellent choice,” Borremans said. “She understands the workforce system and has demonstrated an ability to get tasks completed with a vision to the future.”
Scott Stocker, the organization's chairman, said Suda is well grounded and down-to-earth.
After narrowing the field to six finalists, the committee was unanimous in its selection of Suda, he said.
The Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board was recognized in early 2013 for exceeding all of its performance measures, the only one of the 11 workforce boards in the state to do so.
“Our organization looks at challenges as opportunities,” Suda said. “This basic philosophy has allowed us to achieve recognition and respect throughout the workforce development system in Wisconsin.
“The Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, under Dr. Borremans' leadership, is innovative, credible and service-oriented, and I am incredibly fortunate to have learned from the best.”
Stocker said the development board maintained a blemish-free series of audits and records, much of which was Suda's responsibility.
Suda will lead the planning and oversight of the workforce system for Rock, Green, Lafayette, Grant, Iowa and Richland counties. Services are driven by the needs of local employers and workers, available through job centers.
“Rhonda emerged as the best choice from 125 applicants,” said Rich Gruber, first vice chair of the board and head of the search committee. “We look forward to the experience she'll bring, along with her excellent view to the future.
“This is an exciting time.”
