Drug investigation leads to two arrests

JANESVILLE—Two men were arrested after a drug investigation that led to a traffic stop, foot chase and search warrant Sunday night on the east side of Janesville, according to a Janesville Police Department news release.

Arrested were:

-- Raymond N. Davis Jr., 21, of 170 Lincoln St., Janesville, on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, delivery of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug vehicle.

-- Joseph N. Ecker, 24, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, on charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful possession prescription medications.

The arrests were at 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Morningside Drive after the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit began investigating reports of Davis distributing narcotics in the city.

Police stopped his vehicle when they saw him leaving a Janesville motel. Davis fled on foot but was apprehended nearby a short time later. A search of Davis' vehicle revealed 174.5 grams of prepackaged marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Police executed a search warrant at an area motel, where Ecker was found and was in possession 13 grams of marijuana and prescription drugs, according to the release.
