Karen M. Wirth, age 68, died on May 21, 2014. She was born on Aug. 19, 1945, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Dorothy (Laube) and Harold Bernstein. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1963, and Whitewater State University in 1967. Karen taught third grade in Burlington, WI for seven years before her marriage to L. Karl Wirth on Aug. 3, 1974. They moved to Texas, in 1984. Karen enjoyed sewing, crafts, hunting and fishing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed working with the Newsletter group there.

Survivors include her husband, Karl; sons, Charles (Lin) Wirth of Muldoon, TX, Steve (Patty) Wirth of AZ; and step-daughter, Dianne (Corbett) Mask of CA; Children by choice are Naomi (Scott Johnson) Nowland of IA, and Jon (Christi) Nowland of MN; a brother, Donald (Nancy) Bernstein of Franklin, WI; a sister-in-law, Pat Wirth of Yuba City. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell and his wife, Mary Bernstein; brothers-in-law, Cecil Wirth and wife, Ann, and Richard Wirth.

Funeral services were held May 28, 2014, at Zoeller Funeral Home with burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church – St. Martin Fund, or Hope Hospice. Arrangements under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
