August 28, 1925 - June 10, 2014

On June 10th, 2014, Aletha J. Ludtke went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Aletha was born on Aug. 28, 1925, to her parents, Ralph and Glenna (Dinderman) Koper. Aletha lived in Beloit for 27 years. She married Vern C. Ludtke of Whitewater, WI, on June 20, 1953. Aletha and Vern roomed university students for 11 years. Aletha worked at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a civil service employee in the textbook rental department from 1970-1981. Retiring brought her to volunteering in the Christian Women's Club. Right around this time she became an amateur artist. Aletha was a member of Wisconsin Regional Art Association. Due to her outstanding artistic abilities, she was awarded two state awards for both of her paintings. Aletha also entered her paintings every year at the Walworth County Fair and received many ribbons for her creative works of art. Aletha's life was full of adventurous travels with her husband. They owned an island home where many activities took place with dear friends and family. Aletha always had a positive outlook. She was always seen with a smile on her face. Aletha was once asked: "Why do you smile so much?" She replied: "Because I choose to." Aletha didn't laugh... she giggled. She was always ready with positive support and some spiritual guidance.

Many family members preceded her in death. Those would include her husband, Vern C. Ludtke; her parents; her sister, Vivian (Koper) Gerred of rural Orfordville; and her two brothers, Max Koper of Belvidere, IL, and Robert Koper who was killed in action as a pilot in World War II. Aletha was preceded in death by a niece, Patricia Ann Koper; and a nephew, Roger Koper of Belvidere, IL. Aletha is survived by nieces, Judy (Jerry) Sommerfeldt and Susan Fassbender; nephews, Don (Marie) Gerred and Bob (Sherry) Gerred from Janesville, and Beloit. She is also survived by her nephews, Dan Koper of Minnesota, and Greg (Ladonna) Koper of Belvidere, IL; along with many beloved great nieces and nephews,

Aletha's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Pastor Russ for helping Aletha transition from here to Heaven. Her last moments of your beautifully spoken prayer helped her greatly to be at peace. We would also like to thank the staff at Fort Atkinson Hospital, Fairhaven in Whitewater, and the Visiting Angels throughout her last years.

Her life was guided by her unwavering faith she held for her Almighty Lord. Aletha's favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31 -"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" Amen.
