Update: Minors caused vehicle fires

JANESVILLE—Officials say children playing with gasoline and lighters started a fire that destroyed two cars.

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday,  firefighters responded to 4116 Eastridge Drive, Janesville for the report of a vehicle fire, according to a news release from the Janesville Fire department..

When firefighters arrived, they found two vehicles on fire: a Nissan Versa in the driveway and a GMC Sierra pickup in the street.

Both fires were quickly extinguished.

Investigators interviewed two males, ages 6 and 8, who were at the scene, fire officials said. They admitted they had been playing with a lighter and some gasoline in the driveway when the fire started.

Damage estimates was not available.
