October 13, 1919 - June 5, 2014

Jack P. Fagan, age 94, of Naples, FL, and formerly of Janesville, and Delavan, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Avow Hospice, Naples, FL, after a short illness. Jack was born in Patch Grove, WI, on Oct. 13, 1919, the son of Lloyd and Letha (Duncan) Fagan, farmers for many years. He graduated from Patch Grove High School and Madison Business College with a degree in Accounting. Jack married Jessie Margaret Voss in Madison, on Nov. 5, 1938. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2014. They celebrated 75 years of marriage last November 2013, and raised six children. While newlyweds, Jack worked for Armour Meat Company in Green Bay, WI, as a meat buyer but always loved automobiles. Having grown up near Bloomington, WI, Jack moved back home. He purchased the old International Harvester Building in Bloomington, and was able to reopen a Ford Dealership on Nov. 6, 1945, with two other men. Automobiles were scarce so with nothing to sell, he figured out how to buy Ford Trucks from a Ford Dealer in Detroit. Jack bought two at a time and sold them to local farmers. Ford Motor Co. offered Jack a chance to move to Delavan, WI. He built a building and had a Grand Opening on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1949. The dealership grew and he built a more modern building and opened that in Delavan, in 1966. In 1975, he purchased the former Clifford Motors Ford in Janesville, and sold a lot of Ford cars and trucks. With his sons, Pat and Michael, Jack purchased Art Fenzl Chevrolet and Cadillac and opened it on June 13, 1983. With many years of wonderful customers, Jack retired in 1990, still remaining involved with his sons and loyal employees. The dealership was sold to Jim Fagan and Bob Clapper in 2001, is now known as Fagan Automotive, Inc., and remains at 3601 East Milwaukee Street, Janesville. Jack was involved in many civic organizations in the communities he lived in. He was a member of the Walworth County Board of Supervisors and numerous committees while on the board. Jack was a proud member of the Catholic Knights of Columbus, achieving its highest honor of the Fourth degree. In Janesville, he served and became President of the Janesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Many other local clubs and charities were of interest to him, especially the Lions Club. Jack enjoyed being a member of the Janesville Country Club and was a Pioneer member.

Jack is survived by his five children: Pat (Carol) Fagan of The Villages, FL, Michael (Marilyn) Fagan of Janesville, Mary Jo (Bill) Anderson of Naples, FL, Kelli (David) Westbrook of Little Rock, and Jim (Sigga) Fagan of Milton. Jack and Jessie had two deceased sons, infant son, James (1944); and adult son, Thomas (2011), Naples, FL. Jack and Jessie had many grandchildren: Barbara Fagan, Brian Fagan, Paula (Fagan) Mussey, Sean Fagan, Michael H. Fagan, Ryan Fagan, Casey Fagan, Mackenzie Fagan, Laura Duvekot, David Westbrook, Jr., John Westbrook, Molly (Fagan) Spelman, Dan Fagan; and nine great grandchildren.
