TOWN OF LYONS—A Burlington woman is dead after a single-car crash in Eastern Walworth County on Friday, authorities said.

According to a release, Walworth County Sheriff received a call of a car crash with severe injuries at 5:30 a.m. Friday at Cranberry Road near Berndt Road, just west of Lake Geneva.

Deputies found a “severely damaged” Volkswagen Passat at the scene with driver Danielle L. Heath, 24, Burlington inside.

Lyons fire and rescue medics removed Heath from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Authorities believe Heath, who was the only person in the car, lost control while driving at a high rate of speed over hill, and then crossed the centerline before the car went into a ditch and struck a tree.

A passerby saw the car in the road, according to the release.
