Sarah Mondschein and the Madison West girls soccer team blitzed Janesville Parker early Thursday night.

Mondschein notched a hat trick in the opening 20 minutes to lead the Regents to a 6-1 victory over the Vikings in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal match.

“We were trying to hold them off, but we gave up a tight one in the box that we had trouble clearing and then two more goals on corner kicks,” Parker coach Steve Strieker said. “By the 17th minute, we were up against the wall, but we settled in after that.”

The Vikings scored three minutes into the second half. It was just the fifth goal West has given up all season.

“We scored that first goal in the second half on a great moment,” Strieker said. “We bolted all the way from the back line and strung together about five passes.”

West quickly answered to pull away.

Parker finished with a 4-18 record.
