Fitzgerald makes campaign bid official
JANESVILLE—Two days after filing nomination papers with the state, Brian Fitzgerald officially announced his candidacy Wednesday for the 15th Senate District.
With a bachelor's degree in business administration from Regis University in Denver, Fitzgerald spent most of his career in the cable television business in Wisconsin and California. He also has been in the Internet and software businesses.
A Janesville native, he serves on the Janesville City Council and the city's alcohol license advisory committee and plan commission.
Fitzgerald is the father of Nick Fitzgerald and Shannon Palmer and grandfather of four. All are Janesville residents.
Fitzgerald is running as a Republican for the seat being vacated by Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville.
In a news release, Fitzgerald said his 30-plus years in business and entrepreneurship have given him the background and experience to help bring jobs to Wisconsin and help improve the business climate.
On Nov. 4, he will square off with the winner of the Aug. 12 Democratic primary. The three candidates in that race are Rep. Janis Ringhand of Evansville, Austin Scieszinski and former Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan, both of Janesville.
The 15th Senate District includes Janesville, western Beloit, Brodhead, Milton, Edgerton, Evansville, Newville and Whitewater.
