JANESVILLE—Police have accused a Janesville man of inviting a 17-year-old girl to participate in a sex act as he was giving her a ride on Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Harold D. Ware, 60, of 507 Margate Drive, Janesville, on charges of child enticement and trafficking of a child.

The incident was reported at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The girl told police she was walking near the area of Randall and Ruger avenues when a man approached her.

The man, who was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck, asked her if she wanted a ride, and she accepted, according to police.

During the ride, the man asked her if she wanted to participate in a sex act and if she wanted to participate in prostitution, police said.

The girl declined, and the man dropped her off unharmed, police said.

Ware was held at the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
